About Brian West

Brian West, composer, teacher and performer
is based in Hobart, Tasmania Australia.
He is well known and respected for his original
compositions for classroom ensembles and young concert bands.
Many of his original compositions for concert band
are published by Brolga Music Australia. One of these publications,
Sandy Bay March, has been included in the second volume of "Teaching
Music Through Performance In Band" published by GIA Publications
(Chicago). The CD set contains premier recordings of 40 of the most
significant works ever composed for grade 2 and 3 bands, as selected
by world renowned educators and conductors Larry Blocher, Ray Cramer,
Eugene Corporon, Tim Lautzenheiser, Edward Lisk, Richard Miles and Jack
Stamp. Information about the pieces and conducting insights are contained

As a classroom music teacher and band director of
20 years experience, Brian understands the needs of the developing musician
and is able to accurately portray the exciting sounds of contemporary
music in his compositions and arrangements.
In his publishing business Go West Music, Brian
produces a wide range of educational music including piano solos, percussion
ensembles, and flexible instrumental quartets.
